“Not all who wander are lost” is what Tolkien wrote in a poem for the Lord of the Rings. We won’t slay any dragons, but we plan to conquer some elevation!
When: Saturday, 28 September 28 2019; count on most of the day – we hope to be back in the Basel area by dinner time.
Where: The Stoos area, east of the Vierwaldstättersee, with beautiful, breathtaking views over the lake. It will take 1 hour and 40 minutes by car to get there.
The hike: there are two versions of the hike: a light one for the ones that don’t feel so sure-footed and a regular one for folks that hike regularly:
The light version: Take the funicular up to Stoos and from there the chairlift to Chlingerstock; hike along the ridge and chairlift down to Stoos; total hike is 4 km.
The regular version: Take the funicular up to Stoos and from there hike up to Chlingerstock; hike along the ridge and chairlift down to Stoos; total hike is 8.4 km.
Costs: a day card for the Stoos peak experience is CHF 44, but if you have a discount card or you climb up to Chlingerstock, you might be able to save some of that money. Each one has to bring his own picnic and drinks, so no extra costs involved, apart from transportation to the Stoos parking lot.
Transportation: we are looking for a few men that can drive their cars and take a few guys along. It would be nice if you share the fuel costs. In your registration, please indicate whether you can offer rides or whether you need a ride.
Bad weather? We won’t be turned away by a few clouds or a slight chance of some drops, but if circumstances don’t allow for a safe mountain hike, the event will be cancelled last-moment. Other than for other communications, this is the reason why we need your mobile phone number where we can reach you with WhatsApp.
